Banana Plant (Nymphoides aquatica)

The Banana Plant is a great beginner plant which sends off long stems similar to a Water Lilly. Banana plants require low light and can either be floated or planted. If floating this plant it is recommended to use liquid nutrients. If you plan on planting into a substrate like sand or gravel that does not contain nutrients we recommend using nutrient tabs that can be inserted into the substrate next to the plant. Be sure to plant the tubers (banana looking stems) no more than 1/3 of the way into the substrate. The purpose of this is to support the plant while roots grow from the stem and anchor the plant in the ground. If you plant the tubers to far or completely into the substrate the plant will rot. Co2 is not required to grow this plant, but optimum Co2 levels will increase the growth rate and color. Each plant comes with an average of 2-4 leaves.
