Duckweed (Lemna minor)

Duckweed is a very small, easy to grow floating plant which propagates quickly on its own. High lighting and nutrient rich water is all that is required for this plant to flourish. It grows best in still water and will spread rapidly. Duckweed like most other floating plants are great for sucking up nitrates and can be used as a natural fish food. We recommend containing this plant to a section of your tank or pond because if left uncontrolled it can overtake the entire surface of your aquarium cutting out all light. In a controlled quantity Duckweed is very beneficial to an aquarium’s ecosystem.
